KERALA STATE BILLIARDS CHAMPIONSHIP: AMAL RAZAK’S BIG MOVES HAVE MADE US PROUD!

Amal Razak, an aspiring snooker player from Trivandrum, has won the Junior Billiards & Snooker titles, in the 56th Kerala State Billiards Championship held at the Regional Sports Centre in Kadavantra, Kochi. Amal’s double victory was a great feat, beating his opponent Irfan Akthar in both finals. He also gets an entry to the Nationals for both the junior and senior categories.
The Kerala State Billiards Association is the apex body of the game in the State and was formed with an intention to encourage and promote the game of Billiards, Snooker, Pool and other related games. They have been liaising with the Billiards & Snooker Federation of India and have been conducting championships for more than 55 years – Junior State Championships since 1972 and Sub Junior events since 2018.
Amal’s life changed when he casually visited a pool parlour. He was completely drawn to the sport and slowly to snooker too.
Amal is currently studying BA Psychology and undergoing his Snooker training in Bengaluru. He works hard every day by putting in 9 solid hours at 3 centres in Bengaluru for his training.
In 2018, Amal became Kerala State No.1 in the Junior and Sub-Junior categories for both Snooker and Billiards and have been undefeated since! He has also appeared in the National Billiards and Snooker Championships in 2019 and 2020 as well and secured a place in the Top 16, in the Sub-Junior category.
Amal is driven by his unending passion for the game and says that an ‘attacking mentality’ is what is required to succeed in this sport. He is determined to go higher and score as much as he can, and not miss any opportunity.
