Business Overview

NeST Digital provided a Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) software solution to a customer who is a flight operator and is required to adhere to regulatory norms for Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA). The customer needed a tool capable of analyzing and reporting data from Flight Data Recorder (Black box) to maintain flight safety standards, monitor aircraft health, and for accident/incident investigation purposes. The solution catered to the needs of Fixed Wing and Rotor Crafts for effective Flight/Helicopter Operational Quality Assurance.

Challenge

Flight operators face the challenge of ensuring flight safety and monitoring aircraft health while adhering to regulatory requirements, making implementing Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) and Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA) norms complex. The customer aimed to manage risks associated with flight operations to improve business performance. They needed a highly customizable software tool to analyze and report data from any aircraft type and flight data recorder, meet DGCA approval standards, and match OEM software to ensure compliance and reliability.

Solution

NeST Digital conceptualized and developed a client-server architecture-based software solution that complied with DO-178 B Level E standard (Ground System Software). FliSAFE was the comprehensive Safety Management Flight Data Monitoring (FDM)/ Flight Data Analysis (FDA) tool designed to help airlines identify, classify, and manage risks for the safety of flight operations.

Critical features of FliSAFE include:

  • A customizable and secure software solution that supports any aircraft type and flight data recorder, employing client-server architecture and supporting multiple clients.
  • Parameter values are validated against operational limits, and a multi-readout provision is provided for comparing selected parameters of different flights.
  • FOQA tool with an integrated flight tracker module that plots flight paths in 2D, and an optional 3D visualization tool is available.
  • Data from various formats can be accepted, and the solution can be used for exceedance analysis, incident/accident investigation, systematic trend analysis, and reporting.
  • The software supports FTP for remote operations, with minimum human intervention.
  • Customized performance monitoring plug-in modules for fuel consumption monitoring, reduced thrust monitoring, analysis, and 3D flight animation are available, along with a web interface for remote monitoring.

FliSAFE enabled airlines to carry out Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) / Helicopter Operations Monitoring Program (HOMP) effectively.
